Before and after. The first pic shows the job site at the end of Friday, May 31. The second pic shows the site this morning. They were still pouring the concrete during the heavy rains yesterday. This morning they covered the fresh concrete.

They took away the ramp again. They also put up more of the black/white barrier on the Frederick St. side. The earth is being flattened so they can put down more rebar. (?) Also on the Frederick Street side that little depression now has rebar.
The pic is not too clear since they are working on our building and I don't have access to the balcony. Also, this will be the last pic for a couple of weeks while I'm away from Kitchener.

there's another planned road closure on Frederick for tomorrow. (June 15)
I walked by this construction on Wednesday around 3:45pm. All the workers had gone home and the site was closed off worse then a top secret classified fortress, lol The only hole in the wooden fence was on the Duke street food block, a small square hole that you have to bend down to look! Why the secrecy?, lol
Last time I was there it was possible to step onto the edge of the concrete planters in front of the YWCA and peek over the hoardings. Granted, that was well over a month ago and it may no longer work.

When I walked by it today the square hole had been covered up.

Some progress has taken place since I've been away. I noticed that there are two depressions in the soil on the Duke Street side and they've poured some concrete close to Saint Peter's Lutheran Church. There are a couple of depressions in the concrete but I don't know if either one is for the elevator.

Since the crane went up progress has sped up by alot. Apparently the road is going to be closed again on the 21 but i don't know if it is for concrete or something like 22 Fredrick since the signs are up between King and Weber.
The depressions in front of the crane are definitely for the elevators. It's where the middle of the tower is.
I think the Frederick closure on June 21-22 is for the ION opening, and not related to the project. It's mentioned on the ION ready to ride website.

Several areas on the Duke Street side now have some concrete with markings. Also, workers were using shovels to take away some soil on a slightly elevated area. I would have thought that they'd pour concrete over the whole area but that's not the case here. Does anyone know why they are doing concrete in bits and pieces?

That looks like temporary concrete, not anything structural. Not too sure what it would be for, though.

I think it is just a footing for the formed base they are pouring on top of it. See the picture first picture, you can see they did the same pour, and then in the second picture you can see they have formed concrete on top.

The "temporary" concrete looks like the footing for the base for the concrete they will pour on top. The thin layer of concrete along the Duke Street side, plus the footings were done by hand. I didn't see any trucks pouring concrete...
