In the past couple months, several times now I've had to go speak to people trying to wait for buses at the shelters on Charles at Water. I would have hoped they could have reacted to public perception - that a shiny shelter means buses will come, even without a list of buses - and make it more explicitly clear that the stops are not serviced.
TriTag, and GRT users, should be relieved, "To help encourage ridership in 2018 as GRT services change and ION launches, staff are proposing to keep GRT fares unchanged for 2018."

Also in the budget, GRT proposing to make the route 77 (Wilmot) a permanent route.

"To date, the additional service has shown a positive impact and contributed to an increased ridership of 30% over the same period in 2016."

Also in the budget, $5.25 million in 2021 and 2022 planned for articulated buses, and another $7.785 million from 2023-2027.

Also in the budget, Charles Street Terminal renewal is shown at about $160,000 per year to 2022.
Those numbers look like a solid improvement. Hopefully the trend will continue.
I guess that leaves Wellesley as the largest village without committed bus service beyond what Kiwanis provides?

Looks like it's actually Wellesley.
Are there any plans to add service to Breslau? It seems an easy add.
It's on the 2022 map, if I recall - a route from about Victoria/Lackner, down along Fountain, then along Fairway to the mall.
What is the source of that chart? The population for Wellesley is wayyy off, unless that means the whole Township because there is no way that the village of Wellesley has 11,260 people.

I also find the population for New Hamburg to seem awfully high as well given that other settlements in Wilmot are listed separately. According to Statscan, the pop for Wilmot in 2016 was 20,545, yet NH plus Baden is 18,000+ according to that table.

No male appendage measuring intended, but I am surprised that New Hamburg has almost a third more people than does Elmira.
The New Hamburg and Elmira populations are the population centre figures from Statistics Canada. I'm not sure where the figure for Baden comes from, as New Hamburg actually includes Baden.
Interesting.

I wonder why the Wellesley number appears so high as there is no way there are that many people in the village/town of Wellesley.
I'm surprised Doon and Freeport still have their own figures; I would have thought they were lumped in with Kitchener.
Spotted at Charles Terminal: this new service desk near the top of the escalators. Will this be where the new farecard is dispensed?

Maybe Greyhound is going to move back inside. Rolleyes

Could be an EasyGO distribution desk. If getting someone set up takes a little longer than the average pass purchase, I could understand them wanting to move it away from the regular tills. (Or in addition to the regular tills)
The population for Wellesley in nms's table is for the entire township. The village itself is only 3,246.
