So, if we find 1,000 people with $75, we can all enter into a draw to be the claimant of that top prize, right? ;-)

Lets start an indigogo to fundraise for the top prize?

Seriously though, wouldn't people be more inclined to fund the project if they new the location?  Closer to my home equals more likely to contribute Smile
So I guess getting a deal on rent from the museum isn't enough, they need to beg for money online. Sorry but I spent all my online charity budget funding some dude's bike ride across Canada and another person's unique take on LED bicycle lights that are somehow different from the thousands already on the market.

Was there a later reduction in the proposed rent increase? I had heard numbers through the grapevine that the rent increase THEMUSEUM wanted, which was too much for them to handle with the square footage available, was 60%. I'm not sure how many people could manage a 25% increase in their mortgage and taxes.
I meant that they probably had a good deal on rent for the previous three years since it's only now that the museum is seeking full market value for the space, meaning it was likely discounted before. But that's just an assumption on my part. I never cared for imbibe myself but good on 'em if they get can their clients to bankroll the move.
They lost me on their $12/shot "Ardberg"[sic] whisky. It's spelled Ardbeg.

Maybe they were marketing to the crowd that thinks $12/shot is cool instead of the crowd that thinks a products name should be spelled right. Smile

I would agree, but I wonder if the Imbibe people don't even have a location in mind.

I suspect he has a pretty good idea of where the new location will be.  In the meantime, I see that the indiegogo campaign is closing in on $7,500.
Heard a rumour tonight that Club Abstract is closing at the end of April. Anyone else heard this?
I was there the weekend before the LRT construction closures started, and they were advertizing very vigorously at us that they were going to be open through the construction! But, things can change.
Hmm. Interesting. If they do close at the end of April, it would hardly seem likely that the true reason would be because of LRT construction. I mean if that is truly the case, then their financial situation must have been pretty tenuous already.
Owner retirement, from another reliable source. Sad, as I'm not sure what replaces that niche of sound and style.

Perhaps neither here nor there, but I did overhear someone at Imbibe the other day say that a new gay bar would be opening this summer in the core.  Taking over an existing club might make it easier for all concerned.
Randoms:

- plants have gone up in the windows of Café Delisle (sp?) on Queen St, so it would seem to (finally) be getting ready to open.

- interior renovations are underway at the former Little Bean Coffee to turn the space into an office.

- excavation work seems to be under way for the apartment building on Courtland Ave across from Courtland SPS.   Have we seen a render or site plan for this one yet?
It seems Baton Rouge in Uptown Waterloo. Has closed. The building sign was taken down there are no hours posted on the hour sign and there flip sign is facing closed. There is no note confirming they closed though.
