For the price, the two-for-one burger Mondays was always nice; having beer to enjoy with it would be very nice. While not there often enough to partake with any frequency, their prime rib, Yorkshire, etc meal was also nice. Definitely a good spot to visit UpTown during the construction this summer.
Apparently, the search is still on for a new location for Imbibe, and the search has been expanded to Waterloo.

From the Record: Owner of Kitchener's Imbibe breaks silence after collecting $19K from donors

If he's looking outside of downtown, someone here suggested a few pages back that maybe Union and Moore would make a good spot for a bar. I'm crossing my fingers (but won't be holding my breath).
I wonder what is so crucial to his plans that he can't find an existing space; there's been a few new bars and pubs that have opened up in downtown and they seem to be making a go of it.
He has always given the impression that he is working with limited resources. He also seems rather risk averse.
There are a number of available retail storefronts on King St in downtown Kitchener, too, that probably could work as a pub just as well (narrow front but with a lot of depth). Queen St has (probably much less expensive) space available between Charles and Joseph. Or how about the Black Arrow Cycles space on Ontario St, which is about to be freed up?

22 Ontario is already slated to become a restaurant, or so I heard.
Together We're Bitter Co-op Brewing officially opened today.
oh they officially opened yesterday according to the growlers in my fridge!

Very nice to see them opening with all six beers for sale right off the bat...lots of choice! They already look like they are near capacity though, so if things go well (and I do hope they go well!), I don't know how many options they will have to satisfy demand!

Go in, taste and get a tour for yourself.
The former Gastropub No. 29 space in the Eastwood plaza is being renovated as a new eatery to be called "Strykers".
Barnacle Bill's Fish and Chips (in Cambridge) has applied for a liquor licence.
Regarding Imbibe: I received an update today about the Indigogo Campaign. It looks like the new location is going to be in a new build.

Quote:So as part of my effort to keep you updated, here goes. First, I believe my last update wasn't sent to everyone, but was on the front page of this site, hopefully this gets to all of you.
Good news, we think. We think we have found a location. There's a catch. It may not be ready for sometime. It's a new build just outside of the downtown core.
We think that if Imbibe does move there, that it could certainly be known as the neighbourhood pub, and we certainly hope that is the case.
Having said that, it could be a while until it's move in ready. So while I am excited about this venture, and hope that it will become what everyone hopes it can be, I do understand that the timeline may not be what everyone was hoping for.
It took me a long time to find the perfect spot for Imbibe #1, and while I do feel a little pressure to get the reincarnation up and running as quickly as possible, I want to make sure that I'm making the right decisions.
The Downtown BIA "Dine and Dash" promotion is still on for this weekend and next - spend $25 or more at any number of Downtown eateries and receive one pass for that night at the Apollo CInema. The Apollo is showing "Carol' and "The Big Short" this weekend - both are first rate!

And the Niko Niko signage was finally coming down today.  If I understood correctly, they should be open by early March.

A new build just outside of downtown core?  The only new build in progress I can think of that matches the description at the moment is Midtown Lofts, and there is no retail.  Unless Victoria Commons is finally going to get a condo building completed, with retail space?

Depending on your definition of "new" it could be the old Marbella's space in the Red... or space in the Princess, Cortes or the K2 (are those mixed use)?
