I do wonder though, are Smart Centers that much better located?  Wink

Indeed ... I'm not a huge fan of CPC, but for shopping for home, the convenience is much better.  If ordering from Amazon, I can now actually choose to deliver to the nearest post office, and then walk over to pick up my parcel after I get my email notification.  Better than leaving the parcel at the door -- let alone having to drive to Cambridge!

My last experience with the "Flex Delivery" at CPC was anything but positive.  I got shipment notifications and then the e-mail announcing that the package has arrived at the post office.  I went there the following day to learn the package wasn't there yet, and to try again the next day.  I showed them the email saying it was already delivered and they told me he had no answers, and to try tomorrow.

I called the CPC (lack of) Customer Service line and was told the delivery card clarifies I have to wait until after 1pm the next day.  I explained there was no attempted delivery, and therefore no card, and my email said it was delivered.  She provided me with a delivery card number and shipment number (Both already on my email, and of no use to me anyway), and told me to try the next day.  Really no help.  It arrived at the post office 2 days later....

Sure enough- “don’t leave your car.” Ugh. I guess Penguin doesn’t want your business unless you’re driving.

Whether it is Kitchener/Waterloo or Oakville or Sudbury the big box stores are not always located close to users nopr are users always near Penguin centres. If there is something you want from a Best-Buy and you know what you want you, you can order it and then pick it up at the store online centre. If you don't order that item online sometimes your chance of finding that item are less than a 50-50 chance.

Penguin "smart centres" are one of the largest retail developers in Canada. They were purchased by Calloway REIT in 2015. They see a huge potential market support system for their retail leasees and They have to compete with Amazon, Wallie-Mart and the likes of Loblaw companies for delivery or pick-up. It's a brave new retail world. Target learned the hardway.

The best $99 I spend every year is for my Amazon Prime service which is two day delivery or faster at no cost. I add the freebie app Deliveries to my phone and know every step of the way where my order is 24/7. Not that I am checking at 2:27 a.m.. You can also use freebie Parcel Delivery Tracker. They are also on the Android platform.

The Penguin Pick-up (PP?) set up in south Oakville is not at big box site it is in a neighbourhood/regional road plaza where you don't need a car to pick-up your package. GOOGLE says it is 9 minutes by car from downtown Oakville. It is 5 kilometres, mostly flat and 18 minutes by bicycle.

And, yet, in Penguin's promotion, it chooses to say "Efficient drive-up service- don't leave your car," clueless to the possibility that some of its clients might not be arriving in an automobile.
SMK African Foods has moved into 206 King St E.

There is an "Until it Ends" sign in the window of Candy, Candy, Candy on Ontario St N, so I'm guessing that they will be closing.
Maybe they are referring to construction?

Hopefully they are not closing.
You know, I hadn't thought of that and you could be correct - Ontario is closed at Duke these days.

Sorry about that.
They are closing, unfortunately.
"We are either selling or closing the store. It's been a great three years, but we need to do other things. I need to do other things.
But hey! Don't be too sad. Until we're gone, it's 20% off everything! It's a sale! Everyone loves a sale, right?"

Winners in the former Future Shop

Sign is up at the Sunrise Centre. Oddly no update or news on their website. That being said, they still have Future Shop listed as a tenant. Who knows when the Winners officially opens but I'd imagine in the near future.

I don't think Sunrise shopping centre knows how to edit most of there website. There are multiple former tenants listed with a picture of the old store (Future Shop, Reitmans, Quizno's, The Source, Casey's, Sears appliance and Black's Photography,) but in the former stores descriptions it says what is in the units now e.g. The Source says The Source has closed for business however the vacancy was filled by Barburito and then has description for Barburito.
I forgot to post about it when we launched but Berlin Supply Co. is open!

We've got a few different products (tshirts, tote bags, prints) with locally inspired designs and more coming soon.

Take a peak: http://berlinsupply.co/

If anyone has suggestions for a design they'd like to see or any feedback I'd love to hear it!

Planning to sell at the Market?
Possibly. We're hoping to do a few booths at events this summer once we have a few more items added.
Has anyone heard as to when the IKEA pick-up location is opening in Kitchener. I remember the article that came out last fall as spring of 2016 as the target date (no pun intended).
