OpenText says first-quarter revenues grew 40 per cent as profits rose

WATERLOO — OpenText Corp. said Wednesday that first-quarter profits more than doubled as its enterprise information management software experienced particular strength in the services and technology industries, as well as the public sector.
The Waterloo-based company, which reports in U.S. dollars, said that net income rose to $64.7 million US, or 53 cents per diluted share, compared with $30.6 million US or 26 cents per share a year ago.
Revenue grew 40 per cent to $453.8 million US from $324.5 million US.
The results are the strongest first-quarter performance in the company's history and were reached despite a tougher economy, chief executive Mark Barrenechea said in a news release.

WATERLOO — OpenText Corp. is buying ANXeBusiness Corp., an American provider of cloud-based information exchange services to the automotive and health-care sectors. The all-cash deal is worth about US$100 million, and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of OpenText's 2016 fiscal year, the Waterloo-based provider of enterprise information management software said Wednesday.

OpenText has been very busy it seems, great to see.
What does OpenText do? I like their building, it's a great looking campus (in a great location!).
Their core business is enterprise content management (nee document management). Most of the other things are adjacent to that in some way.

Forgive me, but I find the campus is the problem - prestigious buildings in a suburban field is all I see. Sorry.
That pretty much describes all of the Waterloo R&T Park.
Happily downtown Kitchener is turning out quite differently. Kind of like the Silicon Valley vs San Francisco thing ...

It is becoming an interesting contrast - one town (effectively) with two types of locations for high tech companies, according to their needs.

No need to be sorry - I've parked out by that old house by the lake over there and walked around, and it seemed like a beautiful location - one I'd certainly love to work in. I can't imagine how nice it must be being in a quiet location like that, huge office towers overlooking the trees and lake... coming out to the patio at lunch. Seems very relaxing.
In Ottawa Open Text has a Downtown office of significant size, does anyone think they would open an Urban office here?
