I'm sure all the people who are hating on Bombardier would be thrilled about getting trains from CRRH...
Siemens, Alstom, …. There are other manufacturers, and unless Bombardier can demonstrate significant improvement, the other manufacturers should get the job. The market for accessible vehicles is probably more mature now also. Are they still insisting on 100% low-floor? Easing off on that a little bit might expand the set of available vehicles without affecting overall accessibility.

They'd better watch out. CRRC (China) is already doing vehicles for Boston, Chicago, LA and Philladelphia - Bombardier lost those bids. All of that is new in the past couple of years. They have made huge inroads in North America.

I think you mean CSR Sifang. They have made huge sales inroads (maybe the easier part) but have not yet delivered (the hard part, as BBD can attest). And they have had their own quality problems in Singapore.

Yes, I meant CRRC. They are new here, so yes, its a huge unknown, and risk. The four agencies I mentioned going with them shows how dire the situation is with NA manufacturers - that they are willing to take that risk.

On Sunday, I went for a long bike ride in Toronto along the waterfront. This gave me a fantastic excuse to take my camera and go pantograph spotting!
The Bombardier FLEXITY Outlook LRV's on the 509/Harbourfront route are the first to be switched over to pantograph operations. All of the vehicles so far have been supplied with both pantographs and the traditional trolley poles. As the Outlook vehicles replace the CLRVs and ALRVs, the OCS can be upgraded, and then pantographs can be used. The 509 route is the first to undergo the switch, as of last week.
