I preferred that name, but I could never really figure out how you were supposed to say it. Six-oh?

Six-OH, as opposed to SIX-oh, I think.  If it had to go with "Station", would have preferred Station Plaza (where's the "park"?).

Think more along the lines of the British usage, as in "car park".

Thank you all for the ongoing updates for this project.

"Station Park" (Downtown Kitchener Pre-con @ late-2021) was marketed and projected as a high profile high rise complex with conveniences some cool amenities which had garnered much interest within the KW region. The group claims to have sold 90% of units which is an impressive feat and was targeted to complete the first tower in Dec 2021. However, as we know, the COVID-19 pandemic struck and construction stopped due to mandatory government orders for about 2 months.

I am one of many who booked a unit in the first tower but did not receive any official communication on the work stoppage. When I had requested an update given the recent and current global situation, I was informed that the “Station Park project schedule has been marginally impacted due to coronavirus” but soon, within a couple weeks, was informed there was a 6-month delay in completion of the first tower and the new projected schedule was Summer 2022. This was informed when asked repeatedly but has not yet been communicated officially.

Payment deposits were still drawn on the exact dates on the cheques. When I had requested to defer the payment for a few months due to the unforeseen pandemic and the financial hardship that many of us Canadians recently faced (where banks and the government were quick to act in response), I instead received a stern negative answer. It was as if the request was not even considered and to my surprise the third payment was withdrawn right on the dot, the day it was due.

On the other hand, I know for a fact that similar construction companies in the same neighborhood have very gracefully agreed to defer the payment. It is unfortunate that VanMar and associates could not live up to humanely needs during this unprecedented time the world is living through even though the project was delayed significantly. I am not sure if any of you folks have experienced the same and would like to share your experiences.

Thanks for that perspective CJay. Putting a pause on the deposits for the same length of time construction was delayed would have been a nice thing to do but props behind the scenes there were certain invoices that needed to get paid to keep things well lubricated. With no government mandate for companies to do things like this, private entities especially, maximizing profits still reigns King.

I'm a bit surprised, given the ways that government has stepped in, that that's something that wasn't done.

Steady stream of dump trucks as they are now digging down further

They have excavated down about 3 storeys underground closest to the Kaufman Mansion. I thought the water table was high here and they would not go down so deep.

That's the highest corner of the lot, which exists across quite a grade.

Working pretty steady there. Only minor delays because of covid it would seem.

They have dug another floor down closer to King street and have poured concrete. This base does have a green wire in the middle wrapped around. Will this be for the crane or a pump for the ground water?

Checked it out today, it is the crane base!
