"The route timetable is not available for small devices. Please return to landscape format to use this feature."

Yes, who would ever need this kind of information on their phone, anyway?  Rolleyes

I'm confused, it says the draw will take place June 12th.  Winners *will* receive 500 dollars. Did you win a ride on the first train somewhere else?

Yes, it was a photo contest with the little cardboard Ion trains.  My winning submission was in Grand Central Station (NYC) with the clock and schedule boards in the background.

@taylortbb - I emailed the person who contacted me when I won the day the opening was announced.  I was asked to follow up in the beginning of June, but s/he still works there. Smile

Looks like new bus stop signs are going up. Just seen several of the new style signs on Columbia with just 31 on it.

RE: Grand River Transit - jwilliamson - 06-02-2019

They've put up the new signs for route 8 on the stretch of Weber currently served by the 4.

RE: Grand River Transit - KevinL - 06-02-2019

I've spotted signs at spots that will be getting new service, but I've yet to see an old sign changed over to show a different service in the areas I frequent. Hmmm.

RE: Grand River Transit - KevinL - 06-03-2019

Just as my bus pulled out of Forest Glen, I saw that some GRT staff were putting up large posters about the terminal closure.

Not sure if this was broadcast or not, but I stumbled across this tweet

Looks like they are looking to expand to Breslau and the airport in 2021.

RE: Grand River Transit - Bob_McBob - 06-04-2019

I guess they'll finally have to do something about that lousy intersection at Conservation Dr and Erbsville Rd if buses are going to be turning there.

RE: Grand River Transit - jamincan - 06-04-2019

There is a development that is supposed to be going up in block south of Conservation there and it's my understanding that Conservation will be rebuilt at that time. It's long overdue, as that section of Conservation is really dangerous for cyclist. Lots of deep potholes and impatient drivers who aren't willing to wait to crest the hill before roaring past blindly.

Every northbound bus on the new extended 201 will be U-turning at Courtland and Hillmount, at least for the time being. Apprently they intend to build a mini-terminal at the station? First I've heard of it.

They are talking to the developer about integrating a terminal with the Viverra Village development planned for the Block Line Station area.

Ah, interesting.

RE: Grand River Transit - trainspotter139 - 06-04-2019

According to the Council agenda for this week:
  • The Region has cancelled the contract for bus stop snow clearing in Kitchener and has tendered a snow clearing contract with one of the companies clearing stops in other parts of the Region.
  • The University of Waterloo Station project is being scaled back initially as bids exceeded the budget for the project
    • The installation of the preferred canopies for transit riders is being delayed until a later date to reduce the cost of the contract.
    • They will use the shelters from decommissioned terminals temporarily in place of the preferred canopies.
    • The plan is to have the terminal completed by Fall 2019.

Thank goodness! It was very poor two years ago and just not done at all this year. I hope whomever they bring in next has shovels wider than 10 centimetres.

Quote:I had the opportunity to speak with @UniforTheUnion reps outside of the @GRT_ROW terminal. They are concerned that @RegionWaterloo has tested barriers to protect drivers from assault, but now aren't installing them. They are presenting at Council tonight.

Quote:@GRT_ROW is there more information available about your perspective on this issue?
