My partner picked up some croissants and cheesecake from CE Food Experience yesterday afternoon. I think they are open regularly again, though I don't know for certain. I know they are open, but last summer they were doing orders from their back door, functioning as an outdoor pickup window. But come the colder weather, they closed that and moved inside. In terms of COVID I much prefer the outdoor pickup window, and frankly, it's a main reason I stopped going. I rode by today and it looks like they may be doing curbside pickup which would work for me, but I really did enjoy the outdoor order window. In addition to the COVID benefits, it held a certain charm to me. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - ac3r - 03-30-2021 The City of Kitchener is continuing with its extended patio project for restaurants/cafes/bars this year: https://www.kitchenertoday.com/coronavirus-covid-19-local-news/kitchener-extends-patio-expansion-program-3585889 RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - tomh009 - 04-26-2021 Galito's Chicken (on King St W, between Queen and Frederick/Benton) is changing to Peri Peri Pizza. It looks like the ownership is the same. Literally a hole in the wall in the Patent Social building at Erb & Regina. It's not quite as pleasant as the location next to the former Chainsaw, but it fills a need for Ontario-produced ice cream when you are looking for an alternative to Four All which you had the day before (and which you'll likely have again tomorrow). It's not clear if the St. Jacobs location will remain in operation. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - jwilliamson - 05-17-2021 There's a new cafe in the DVLB space called Midnight Run. It looked like they are already open when I ran by last night. Also there's something new going into the Chainsaw building; I think it's called Streetlight. My favorite will always be pyramid pizza. https://www.kwmotion.com/the-top-25-pizza-places-in-kitchener-waterloo/ Pyramid is our current go-to for pizza. Their wings are pretty good as well. RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - danbrotherston - 05-19-2021 Anyone have luck carrying a pizza on a bike rack before? Tips? Suggestions? RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - clasher - 05-19-2021 This wald rack and the stretchy cargo net, though bungee cords work too. I think Black Arrow has the rack but I haven't been in a while so IDK for sure. The only problem is the wind cools the pizza off quickly so the ideal thing to get would be one of those insulated bags like the delivery people use. I guess I was asking how to get it safely on the existing rack I have..like maybe tomorrow lol RE: General Food, Dining and Nightlife News - robdrimmie - 05-20-2021 (05-20-2021, 06:22 AM)danbrotherston Wrote:(05-19-2021, 11:42 PM)clasher Wrote: This wald rack and the stretchy cargo net, though bungee cords work too. I don't have practical advice for mounting, but it may be helpful to bring some wax or parchment paper with you to line the top of the pie with. Even if the box is mounted securely to your bike, the pie inside will jostle a bit and could stick to the lid. I'd just bungee it and take the ride slowly... might be able to put the panniers on to increase the area to set the box on. Something like this might work? |
