The freestanding building that is being built on the Zehrs Beechwood property at Fisher-Hallman and Erb will also include a Pet Valu location. The existing Pet Valu location further east on Erb Street will be closing. The new building must be behind schedule as the existing Pet Valu location will be closed before the new building is ready for occupancy. Staff are being temporarily transferred to another location until the new location opens up.

There has been a Tim Horton's Coming Soon! sign up at the Frederick Mall (corner of Frederick & Edna) for quite awhile now. I think soon has long passed, but I'm kind of wondering what the deal was there. I'm guessing Tim Horton's actually isn't coming and the land owner simply hasn't bothered pulling down the sign, but why would Tim Horton's even contemplate opening a location there when they have another location just down the road at Frederick & Lancaster?

RE: General Retail News - Pheidippides - 09-20-2016

I've heard the Frederick and Lancaster one is closing.

RE: General Retail News - GtwoK - 09-20-2016

That would be quite surprising, given that that would mean Tim Hortons no longer has any presence downtown. Granted, there's no shortage of good coffee downtown, but still.

Frederick & Lancaster doesn't have a drive-thru, does it? That seems like a good reason to me.

It could also be that the landlord has different plans for the building (which doesn't have the typical Tim Hortons look and feel).

I think the building's look and feel dates to when it was first built AS a Tim Horton's; the neighbourhood did not want a suburban-looking box among century-old homes, so that design was built to compromise.

Yes ... but because it doesn't have that look, it could be more easily adapted to a different tenant, too.

The former Coffee Time at Forest Glen plaza is being renovated - not sure into what, though.

Somehow it looks so lonely.

RE: General Retail News - notmyfriends - 10-23-2016

Your last picture makes it look like the drive-thru just dead ends at a curb, ha.
