Here's what's going on at the base of Shantz Hill in Preston.

Last night on the 85 southbound there was a sign saying that the Bridgeport exit was going to be closed, any idea why?

Wondering if the current 3-way stop at Riverbend/Wellington/Shirley will have the traffic lights turned on soon. There were signs laying on the ground today in each direction showing "Traffic Light" and "NEW" just waiting to be propped up.

Bridgeport and King interchange are either partially or fully closed overnight.  I suspect it's due to this contract that was recently awarded by MTO:

Were these areas not just rehabilitated?

RE: General Road and Highway Discussion - p2ee - 06-15-2017

The contract is fairly cheap, just $420k. I suspect these are just some minor improvements that should be wrapped up soon.

That was my thought too as I drove past the area last night and several mini-excavators were doing their thing.

Does anyone know of any updates regarding the interchange that is to be built at highway 8 for River Rd?

Unsure if you were referring to me. But I was talking about Highway 8 and River Rd, good distance from highway 7 to Guelph. My understanding was that the River Rd extension and interchange at Highway 8 was supposed to start in 2017...

RE: General Road and Highway Discussion - Pheidippides - 06-18-2017

The region has indicated that the project could be completed as late at 2025.

"The Region of Waterloo has recently indicated that their schedule for constructing the River Road Extension could be delayed to as late as 2025 completion."

I'm not sure of the reason, perhaps because the one of the options for Ion uses that crossing? The $72 million price tag will likely be significantly higher by then.

I've always questioned the utility of this plan.

Oh thanks for that.

The reason for the River Rd extension and interchange was to relieve traffic on Fairway Rd.

Here is a news story on the delay.

We are talking about here:

Oh, jeez. 8. Not 7/85. Or whatever it's called up North. Gah. Thanks...
