I was just over there. It’s in place and they’re starting to put away the crane. Another successful lift by Mammoet! The crossing protection up near Seagram station activated so I was hoping the LRV would come by with the crane still there but unfortunately I think it reversed and went back north again without coming down close to the creek.

Is the Blair Road trail open again yet?

RE: Trails - jamincan - 05-16-2018

Was it closed? We road it the weekend before last without any issues.

RE: Trails - Canard - 05-16-2018

Then it must be open. Smile

(It was very closed a month or so ago, I posted photos a few pages back with the story about how I deservedly got screwed the one time I ever went past a closed sign.)

RE: Trails - jamincan - 05-16-2018

To be clear, we didn't ride the part coming off Fountain St., just the sections further south.

RE: Trails - KevinL - 05-16-2018

Much more of a stock design than the earlier documents seemed to imply, but I guess that's the way of this kind of project.

Still looks great.

Yeah, the North section right by the bridge is still closed for some reason - this is the closure I'm most concerned about:

It's this section:

Drone footage (!*) of yesterday's bridge installation:

* - How is this legal? It is within a no-fly zone... I always wanted to buy one (before LRT construction began) but gave up when I saw all the rules that make it illegal to fly basically anywhere...

RE: Trails - KevinL - 05-16-2018

It's from a professional aerial photography firm, so I imagine they know the regulations to get permits, etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought this section had a MUT along George St.?  I usually go that way because it's less busy and I avoid the switch backs, but I might be wrong about where it starts. Obviously, a less enjoyable ride however.

RE: Trails - Canard - 05-16-2018

It does have an MUT... but it's no fun!

The trail section is super nice. Smile I like to take it on my way home from work for a nice long relaxing ride.

If you select Model Aircraft (Recreational Drone) for the UAV weight, then flights over Silver Lake are allowed.  Presumably something like a DJI Mavic Pro would fall under this classification.

Edit to add: For Ion spotting, GEXR's Lancaster Yard is off limits even to the DJI, although most of CN's MacMillan Yard is fair game. :-)

Thanks for the information. I was thinking that at tree height, Waterloo Park is not reasonably in proximity to the helipad.

What is the problem at Lancaster Yard? It’s not obvious to me what the problem would be with a tall-tree-elevation flight at that location. I can’t see flights to and from the helipad buzzing along almost at ground level except for right near the helipad.

I'm just basing that on the link provided by Canard (https://www.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/eng/solutions/collaborative/civuas/uav_site_selection_tool.html) with Model Aircraft (Recreational Drone) selected as the UAV weight. The Lancaster yard is within the lighter coloured bubble that surrounds the Breslau airport...
