I don't really know how the process works, but searching for Beaver Creek Meadows turned up the map below. Looks like both the trailer park and Erbsville Kartway would not survive.

The house on this site has been demolished. This lot is super slim but quite deep, should be an interesting little building for the Neighbourhood https://goo.gl/maps/yCK6w3GipX92

Zoning change application for West Acres Cres (near Highland and West Forest Trail) from Residential Four Zone (R-4) to Residential Six Zone (R-6) to permit stacked townhouse dwellings in a proposed site plan with 27 dwelling units divided between two buildings:

Proposed zone change 1054-1070 Hidden Valley Rd. from R1 to R6 to allow for 40 townhouses:

This would be a big change in housing type for this neighbourhood!

Reading through the report shows lots of neighbourhood opposition.  I don't think it will have the impact the neighbours think it will, but perhaps adding 27 units at once is a bit much for a neighbourhood of primarily single family homes / duplexes.

I noticed the trees on the property have been taken down while driving by on Highland yesterday.

I do feel for the neighbours who are directly adjacent- living next to a 50-spot parking lot probably wouldn’t be pleasant.

It seems strange to me that the document talks about the fact that Highland Road is back-lotted in that stretch, and a driveway is not desirable because traffic is too fast. But these townhouses front onto Highland- that fast traffic doesn’t sound too pleasant for the future residents.

I hope that the frontage onto Highland is attractive, and that access by the residents on foot is easy and pleasant. It wasn’t mentioned in the document besides as a response by a staff member at one of the meetings, but this is extremely close (150 meters) to a 204 stop- these future residents will have very good transit if the development is designed to give them a nice walk to Highland.

From the map, looks like the Green Acre Trailer Park will be redeveloped too.

Progress on the new neighbourhood shopping plaza at Fischer-Hallman Road and Huron Road. Tepermans Furniture of London will anchor the first phase.

The initial design is nothing special, but again, I'm not expecting much for this area of the City. So far, this looks like something straight out of the 1990s. I was hoping the new Rosenburg Secondary Plan the City approved would help somewhat...

There is a industrial/commercial building going up (or an addition) next to Kastl & Zuch Plumbing & Heating Ltd 3 Colby Ct in Waterloo. Couldn't find any details.

RE: General Suburban Updates and Rumours - Smore - 04-04-2016

I noticed that the wood lot on Shantz Hill (West side) has been trimmed back significantly (to put it mildly, I'm sure for its neighbors).

Anyone know whats going in here (I assume its development)?

Isn't that for a road widening/traffic circle project?

RE: General Suburban Updates and Rumours - GtwoK - 04-04-2016

It is for the reconfiguration of the intersection, indeed. Not a traffic circle mind you, but Shantz and Fountain between Shantz and King are being widened, the intersection is being reconfigured into more of a 'Y' rather than a 'T', and the S-curve in front of Dover is being lessened.

RE: General Suburban Updates and Rumours - panamaniac - 04-08-2016

Work seems to be getting underway on the site of the mixed-use apartment building at the corner of Stirling Ave and Homer Watson.

RE: General Suburban Updates and Rumours - Watdot - 04-13-2016

A property development that has seen several renditions over the last 10(?) years.  Came across a newer one today I think.  At least buildings face Northfield, hopefully they interact with it as well.  Looks like a grocery store and Beer Store are no longer being considered for this development (since they are being built nearby now).

Northfield-Bridge Development

"This new 7.3 acre development is situated in the rapidly growing northeast quadrant of Waterloo. This new project will have an innovative mixed-use urban design."   Dodgy

Well, they certainly are... adjacent to Northfield.
Considering there isn't even a proposed sidewalk to connect to the bus stop at Bridge/Northfield, I'm putting a 0% chance that there is any manner of interaction with the street. It will likely end up looking like the LCBO at King/Northfield

Also, that's a lot of parking. I have a hard time imagining what kind of stores could even come close to drawing that much demand.
