Page 9 of the PDF is the meat of things - the preferred alignment is diagonally across the Queenston block, then running alongside Eagle St. The latter is to allow a simpler crossing of the CP line further up the riverside (a bridge for just the LRT, not the road as well).

Worth noting they’re recommending outboard running on Eagle - crazy. I can’t imagine the Surplus Store is staying, and the parking garage at the apartment towers there is going to either be heavily modified or need to go entirely.

There's plenty of room on either side of the roadway that they can make it work between King/Eagle and Eagle/William by shifting the road over by a lane width or so. The Cambridge Surplus building, however, is definitely in the way.

So the Record publishes a story about the public info centre, but reserves the vast majority of the story to one land owner concerned about her property values (she isn't even facing expropriation - just the loss of a view). Le sigh.

"I bought a piece of property, but I believe I'm entitled to all the surrounding property too".

I have no doubt we would see some of these same objections to a road project, but they would be far more easily ignored.

I love the concern for the animals too, they somehow have managed to thrive despite the diesel trains going through the area but now some electric trains are worrisome?

Her "view" overlooks a huge storage shed, an auto shop and metal manufacturing shop, and a four lane road with multiple existing rail tracks and a signalized rail crossing. There are also several billboards and a bunch of mature trees screening the home from the road. You can sort of see Riverside Park way off in the distance. The way Hicks describes it she lives in a nature reserve that will soon be replaced by LRT riders peering into her kitchen every

Cambridge City Council has approved the latest proposed route for Phase 2, yesterday, by a vote of 7-2.

Quote:The LRT is essential to our future growth, Mayor Kathryn McGarry said. We have seen already what the impact to Kitchener-Waterloo has been with the LRT there, and it's not running yet. They have seen billions of dollars of investment.

I wonder what the "perfect route" is.

Depends on who you ask. Ask some people in Preston, and it's anywhere but in Preston (ala the middle of the 401 to hespeler road)

That quote got me too.  I'm sure to the speaker it means anywhere but in their backyard...

This is the route refinement Cambridge Council voted on.
