I too noticed that the Laurel Trail which runs along the property line is completely absent from the rendering. So is Laurel Creek itself. (If I was looking at renting space in this development I'd consider both of those as positive features.)

I was pretty certain that the former post office building was at one time owned/leased by the Perimeter Institute.  I think the former Carnegie library is hoped to eventually become a community (insert buzzword here) space if the City can sort out zoning.

Yes, the old post office is owned by the city. And yes, it used to house the Perimeter Institute before their first building was built. And yes, the former Carnegie Library is going through rezoning to turn it into a "tech hub"... that is if Habitat for Humanity ever wants to leave (they don't have plans to move out).

The old post office used to have a neon sign from its former tenant "Time Square". Then when the Perimeter moved in, they added an additional bit of neon above the sign to rename it "Space Time Square". Thanks to Google Streetview history, you can view the modified sign from May 2009 (http://bit.ly/1N698sO), but it was removed by August 2011.

And Time Square was after MKS filled up the building and moved out in the early 1990s!

I am happy they are updating and not letting the building remain ugly and/or deteriorating to become a big eyesore ... the fact that they are making the streetscape better is a good thing.

I just realized the new logo also looks to be heavily borrowed from the Regional Government's values logo:

Nice catch!

Neither one is terribly innovative; it's basically a reversed yin/yang logo in blue and green. For example:

Settlement Co. opened today in Uptown. Looks like it will be the best coffee shop so far! Great interior design and tons of seating options... the coffee is great too!

What a horrible colour and side facade.
