Waterloo Region's Compost - Markster - 04-10-2017 On the Region's site, I see that they give away compost: http://www.regionofwaterloo.ca/en/aboutTheEnvironment/seasonalservices.asp#compost Quote:Yard waste that the Region collects along the curb is turned into compost. Compost is an earthy-smelling soil conditioner and can be used for home gardens and lawns. Has anyone here made use of this? It says it starts in April, so would it be up and running by now? Do they frequently run out? RE: Waterloo Region's Compost - timio - 04-10-2017 We got some last year (mid-May)and it was fairly decent quality, albeit with a lot of sticks. Probably better if you had a sieve to get the roots and pieces of wood out. The plan is to go get it again this year. RE: Waterloo Region's Compost - Markster - 04-10-2017 With rain in the forecast, I guess it would be expecting too much to hear that it's covered from the elements? RE: Waterloo Region's Compost - clasher - 04-11-2017 I stopped putting the region's stuff in my garden, it has so many weed seeds in it. RE: Waterloo Region's Compost - highlander - 04-11-2017 I was at the Erb landfill on Saturday, there was lots of compost available. It is not covered. RE: Waterloo Region's Compost - white_brian - 04-11-2017 The Waterloo site has it available at gate two, before the scales beside the Habitat and Goodwill trailers year round. I have never seen it covered.. |
