Hopefully momentum in downtown will be so strong in 2019 that strong demand for development will continue without incentives.

It will be interesting to see which projects proceed in the next two years - it seems a tricky thing to balance the financial incentives against the potential oversupply of apartments in Downtown.

Depending on how the development incentive numbers work out, it's also possible to put up a building with the expectation that for the first year or two there will be some unsold/unrented units.

Some more work being done on the downtown Manulife building? Yesterday a small crew in a lift were removing miscellaneous brick from the the top floor on the Gaukel-facing side of the building. Testing for more potential windows? Or just a regular "checkup"?

Wrong side of the street. I was referring to the side with the old post office!

Will it let them clear out the rest of the coal tar, or did they get it all the first time?

RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - MidTowner - 10-10-2017

The house at the corner of Waterloo Street and Bismark Avenue was demolished on Friday. If I recall correctly, a duplex dwelling is planned there (it had been marketed for ages, finally sold a few weeks back).

Edit: Apologies for poor picture quality.

The KW Habilitation affordable housing complex at 108 Sydney Street is well into the construction phase (currently on the third of fourth floor).

"Staff have confirmed through the necessary documentation from the Land Registry Office that the subject lands at 19 Wellington Street North have been consolidated together with the lands addressed as 624 King Street West."

Does anyone know what's happening here. Recently the house at 19 Wellington was demolished along with the structures on 624 King St W (The former Hasty Market).

RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - MidTowner - 10-25-2017

I went over to Phat Cat Shawarma for lunch last week, and was surprised to find it no longer existed. The owner had been talking about opening up for weekends now that Kind was open again, so I really didn't think the building was going to come down soon...

The building permit is for a three storey mixed use (yay) building at 624 King West.
