RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - Rainrider22 - 03-23-2020 HIP is the developer though, I take it like it will be bigger than what is proposed for 624 King RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - tomh009 - 03-30-2020 Karl-Zehr-Platz (err, Carl Zehr Plaza) closed off now -- although it's for COVID-19, not reconstruction yet. RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - Momo26 - 04-01-2020 Does the Hygge have it's own thread yet? No, it's for construction. https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/construction-begins-at-carl-zehr-square-1.4874997 RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - jgsz - 04-01-2020 (04-01-2020, 09:12 AM)KevinL Wrote:(03-30-2020, 02:00 PM)tomh009 Wrote: Karl-Zehr-Platz (err, Carl Zehr Plaza) closed off now -- although it's for COVID-19, not reconstruction yet. Ironically, this will be a good year to redo the square. RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - clasher - 04-30-2020 Random question for anyone downtown right now, what is with the honking!? It's in support of healthcare workers (based on the signs a lot of the cars have). That's my understanding. Here is my no doubt unpopular opinion: RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - clasher - 04-30-2020 What a ridiculous way to "support" something... can't people just clang pots together? I bring out my brass elephant bell for my neighbourhood's weekly clang (I'll see your banging pot and raise you ....) RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - jgsz - 04-30-2020 I was at Grand River Hospital for treatment when this happened. It was loud and noisy and every nurse who could went to the windows and watched for a minute or two. From what I gathered, the nurses thought it was cool and appreciated the support. RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - cherrypark - 05-14-2020 Cool overhead view of downtown from the Snowbirds fly over. RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - kidgibnick - 05-21-2020 Walking around yesterday, I noticed what looked like the entire block of Queen S. (from 112 - 84) to the corner of Charles was not only temporarily closed by completely vacated. Peaked in the windows and looked like some were under interior demo - did not look like the same tenant was planning to return. Of course the situation for small business is challenging right now - anyone know what's going on? I always liked the buildings on this block - just needs updating and some love. Also, Coffee Culture (Queen/King corner) was full of construction equipment. A local resident told me "it's finished." I wasn't sure what to believe?! RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - panamaniac - 05-21-2020 Re Coffee Culture, do you mean "finished" as in out of business? Re the block to the south, some of those premises have been empty for years, no? RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - tomh009 - 05-21-2020 Pearl Laundry has been vacant for years. There are a couple of other vacancies but also some small businesses in that block. At least the last time I looked it was not completely vacated. |
