How about we turn Charles Street Terminal into The Weed District? 38 floors of weed shops, with a public park outside with bean bags, a constant rotation - a parade even - of food trucks. Instead of trees and shrubs, it's just crop, free for the taking.

3 floors with ground floor retail, and 8 truly tiny apartments above (250 to 300 sq ft). No parking. Fills in a longstanding gap in the King St E streetwall.

This started construction (site servicing) yesterday. King St E is currently closed in front of the property, building permit was issued late September.

Having lived (admittedly for only six months) in a very nice 300 sqft bachelor apartment, I think this is a great project that complements all the larger apartments downtown.

Went to the developer's (Elev8 Properties) site, and seems theyve got another project listed on there —26 King St E, slated for construction in spring of next year

This is on the far end of the American Block, in the empty lot, if that isn't clear. Anyway, seemed oddly narrow, so I looked it up, and sure enough, that's the size of the lot alright

That is the width of the building that was demolished after the fire.

Hooray for anything that puts a dent in King St’s gaps, I guess.

RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - tomh009 - 10-26-2021

3m wide maybe? That's Tokyo-style gap filling!

RE: General Urban Kitchener Updates and Rumours - ac3r - 10-26-2021

Now we just need to fill in that empty plot 225 King Street West (at least I think that's the address) which is beside the Manulife complex. I can't remember what used to be there...wasn't it the old Zappers Arcade building? I remember they had a fire back in the 1990s when it seemed like everything was burning down.

Somehow hadn't noticed the site plan application posted for this back in August — 2 residential units and a ground floor office unit. Not exactly sure how they're getting an office in there, but then again, not sure how they'd necessarily get retail in there either.

I didn't notice the image until now. That has some world's littest skyscraper vibes.

Received a notice today that Duke and Madison will have lane closures next week for service disconnections to the 4 properties that were demolished. Still can't find any information on what's going to happen beyond the funding screenshot posted earlier in this thread.

Has this already been constructed or is it just a proposal for a new building? I'm usually reading a book when I'm passing by on the LRT so I haven't noticed if anything has gone up there. Either way, you'd think a developer would prefer to attempt to buy that entire block up and build something higher density, given that this is going to become one of the regions densest areas.
