Supposed to be next week, no? RE: General Arts and Culture News - Canard - 08-24-2017 Was supposed to be July. Is there new data that says it's next week? It is a little late but I'm happy that they are investing in the station instead of shutting it down. It's a pretty big investment to upgrade and expand programming when the easier decision might have been to shut down. RE: General Arts and Culture News - panamaniac - 08-29-2017 I see in the paper that local artist, Peter Etril Snyder, died yesterday. I hope it is robust. RE: General Arts and Culture News - ijmorlan - 08-30-2017 (08-30-2017, 12:13 PM)Canard Wrote: Yes! Saw that this morning on my bike ride to work this morning; it looks fantastic! I love this kind of art. It will look great. I’m a bit concerned the 2x4s aren’t pressure-treated; wouldn’t that be a good idea? I guess they’re not in the ground but it still seems like a good idea for something that will be outside 24x7. RE: General Arts and Culture News - panamaniac - 08-30-2017 I have no idea, but I suspect that the proponent doesn't really envisage a very long life for this work. Thinking years rather than decades. That seems OK to me. RE: General Arts and Culture News - Canard - 08-30-2017 I'm just wondering, why is that okay? I like art that lasts for decades or centuries. I loved the bas relief patterns inside the Roissypole RER station: RE: General Arts and Culture News - tomh009 - 08-30-2017 (08-30-2017, 02:11 PM)panamaniac Wrote: I have no idea, but I suspect that the proponent doesn't really envisage a very long life for this work. Thinking years rather than decades. That seems OK to me. Why do you think that? Neruda Arts'/Alapinta's mural on Hall's lane is three years old, and still looks new. While the size of this installation dictates a different approach, why do you think they would be creating disposable art? I would hope that the intent is for the art to last as long as can reasonably be expected of something painted outdoors. RE: General Arts and Culture News - timio - 08-30-2017 Saw the rest of the Neruda Arts mural up today. Looks great. I don't know what the Electrohome mural on the Duke St garage is made of, but it has lasted for decades now. |
