Grand River Transit
The 7 confusion *should* be cleared up when the route is reconfigured with Ion. If that actually happens remains to be seen.

I think that "under 5" means the same as "4 years of age and under". But it's mostly an honour system anyway, isn't it? Bus drivers aren't going to ask for ID. It's pretty hard to tell a 4-year-old apart from a 5-year-old. On the other hand, 6-year-olds and some older 5-year-olds are usually given away by their smiles. :-)

In the 70's the Kitchener Transit buses allowed free transportation for 'babes in arms ride free.' Lots of people picked up older children so the child could ride for free.

In Prague, they give 1 ADULT FREE Travel with infant (< 2 year old), that'd be nice

But yes, I read it the same. <5 is same as <= 4 ...
It's honor system anyway as one says

Based on the upcoming GRT detours for the #7 it looks like SB Caroline at Erb will not be reopening the same time as the rest of the intersection:

It looks like they are accepting feedback on the draft GRT Master plan simultaneously to the overall transportation master plan:

Public Consultation Centres - GRT 2017-21 Business Plan

September 14, 2016

An interim report on GRT's 2017-21 Business Plan was presented to the Planning and Works Committee of Regional Council on August 9, 2016. The 2011 Regional Transportation Master Plan set out an annual ridership target of 28 million rides by 2021. GRT's 2017-21 Business Plan will guide the planned improvements to the regional transit network and service levels that are required to meet the 2021 ridership goal.

Please join us at a pair of Public Consultation Centres in September to review and provide your comments on GRT's proposed 2017-21 Business Plan. Regional staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. More Public Consultation Centres will be scheduled for later this fall.

Contract P2016-16, "the plan, design, supply, and installation of GRT bus shelters, primarily for the recently launched 204 iXpress route but also for various other locations including the 203 iXpress route (Franklin – Maple Grove). The order consists of approximately forty-three (43) iXpress shelters of varying dimensions, which shall include variable message sign (VMS) enclosures; nine (9) conventional transit shelters without VMS enclosures; one (1) iXpress custom-sized shelter, six (6) stand-alone VMS poles, and ten (10) stand-alone back-rest benches.", was awarded in early May with an "approximate completion date would be end of September or early October."

Is there any evidence along any of the routes that the work has even started?

I saw a new 204 shelter at Courtland and Queen the other day, if that helps.

On another topic entirely, it seems the new electronic fare system has suffered a heavy delay. It was supposed to be tested over the summer with a fall launch; however, it seems the new fareboxes (for which there was an informational blitz in late spring) are not working as expected and about four months have been added to the timeline. This means: expect testing through fall, and a winter launch for the farecard.

I believe I saw some work on a shelter at Highland/Belmont.

There have been shelters installed along Maple Grove! I'll have to check on Franklin next time I'm on it.

No shelters on Lackner yet for the 204 iXpress route.

So they connected the route 14 to the Northfield LRT station, but with the routing of 14, no one can reasonably use it to get to work, only to leave work. :-S

Curious if the new 28 makes Midtown(ers) happier.

Wondering if the 12/18, 9/19 will cause confusion for folks, making them think there are transfers/layovers.

No branching 7s!

Bit disappointing to see routes being pushed to connect to downtown away from the transit terminal. Seems foolish way to push for better use of/support for intercity bus/rail service.

I am curious how well the 27 will interface with ION, if it'll see much use by skiers/boarders (rentals?).
