ION - Waterloo Region's Light Rail Transit
If we are going to start talking about specific trouble areas based on the type of people who frequent there, we really ought to first look at UoW...

I am wondering, in retrospect, if they should have chosen a different route other than that part of Charles. I can see a lot of issues cropping up daily in that area.

I don't think it was foreseeable.  My best guess is that its related to the mental health of a particular individual, with influence upon the others around him (perhaps deliberately, perhaps indirectly).  You can't predict a one-off, and I have nothing against the organization itself -- they do good work.  If there are continued issues after the start of service I'm sure that they will be dealt with.

People on the fringe are the ones who need public transit the most... we just need to deal with it and try to mitigate issues.

Social services should be able to free passes for those that can't afford the ticket. These ones on the road, though, don't always have an interest in riding a train, though that might change when it's really hot or cold.

There's a maintenance crew testing Fairway to Mill (grade crossing signals I think) at the moment. And LRVs are beginning to depart from the yard.

I'm glad to see multiple units out on regular runs like this. Puts it front of mind of people walking and driving around that there will be actual trains on this system. I notice that once they get to the Cameron crossover they have to get out and turn the switch manually, then jump back in.

They've had issues automating that crossover for months.

LRV 509 is on display and open to the public until 7pm!

This is very short notice - I really wish they’d announced this in advance.

Short notice indeed.  I'd love to come see it, although even if I'd known I wouldn't have changed my travel plans.

It would be good if grandlinq had more events like this.  Great way to generate goodwill, familiarize people with the train for riding and operating around, and obviously since it can travel, it can tour every stop and give people a more local introduction .

Hopefully this is just he first event of many.

In particular, there's a Doors Open tour of the King underpass on Sept 15 - having an LRV at Central Station for it would add an extra element!

I wonder why the short notice.  Maybe just there and decided, lets do this?

A UW orientation event was taking place in the public square, WaterlooFest:

Whether the LRV is part of that or if it is a coincidence or something else I cannot say.

I know KevinT took a few. There's a few in the comments of the Facebook thread I created for it. But my favourite one has to be this one taken in Waterloo Park from 509s return home. https://twitter.com/Don_Thate/status/103...17985?s=19
