Grand River Transit
Is it a normal feature of the federal Infrastructure Program that the Province makes a funding announcement for projects that still need the approval of the GofC? Seems rather convoluted.

It comes from the reporter misreading an earlier CBC article that stated the entire pool of Canada Infrastructure Program funding. I tweeted her and emailed CBC this afternoon, but it hasn't been corrected yet. The actual cost of the facility is a bit of a mystery. The region budgeted $65m back in 2016, and the request for bids document says the entire cost should be under $90m, but CBC was reporting a cost as high as $120m in March.

It's an attempt at politicizing the process. If the PC's can paint the federal Liberal's as the slow party here, they believe it will make their federal counterparts look better.

Reality is another thing.

120MM still seems crazy high.

I'm disappointed there's nothing in there about the 3's schedule. I'm certain it's in no small part due to the construction on Ottawa near Homer Watson but it seems like the bus does not depart from Frederick on time in the afternoons. I typically get on the bus on Charles at Borden (one stop after Frederick Station) and it's at least 6 minutes late every time, and often (like last night) over 10 minutes late.

I don't want them to improve service necessarily - I mean, I would but that seems complicated. I only want the schedules to reflect reality so just publish the fact that it's going to come at 4:49, not 4:38.

I'm also disappointed that the 3 won't be improving to every 15 minutes, but doing it for the 16 does me almost as much good. Nothing compared to the level of service I had before the rerouting (there were 3 routes that passed within a block of my house every 15 minutes during morning and evening periods in the non-summer schedules), but a step back in that direction is nice.

Great to see the new Route 36 in my neighbourhood runs all day.  There are times I just missed the last 76 and had a long walk home...

Edit to add: Weekends need not apply. :-(

I just loaded my September pass online and it still charged me the old price. Thought the price was going up in September.

Google streetview shows there was a transit signal at this intersection in June 2016.

I wonder why it never gets used then? The 302 (and the 200 prior) always wait until the green to go through with the rest of the vehicles.

It's strange that there is one there, I think it is not used because there is a receiving lane.  Usually it is used for queue jump lanes where buses will use the right turn lane to get in front of traffic, but here, the bus can proceed into the receiving lane on the far side without a priority signal.
