I'm sorry to hear this, but it doesn't surprise me. The food was excellent but the location was uninviting. Hopefully someone as talented as Jeff Ward will have no problem finding another location in which to ply his trade.

If you walked by it, you'd never think to go in for a fantastic food experience, sad though.

Bit of an odd spot for a fast-food place given there are fashion outlets immediately surrounding it; though Bulk Barn is also in that strip, with Starbucks at the far end.

Dont all South Street locations offer NYF products?

Same Company.

My experience of South Street at the Boardwalk wasn't that great. They put the fries on the tray well before the burgers were close to being ready, so by the time we sat down to eat, the fries were lukewarm at best. Don't think I'll go back. The Grill offers a better burger and fries at a lower price.

Abe Erb has unusually good burgers. Went there with a UK coworker who was doing the rounds of a few offices in NA, he said it was the best burger he'd had all trip.

I admit, I've warmed to the place. It's no Imbibe and the pints are pricey, but it has a good kitchen.

I'm a huge fan of their burgers.

The Bent Elbow also makes a fantastic hamburger.

Signs have gone up at University and Fischer Hallman for Phoenix Cuisine. Logo looks a lot like these people: http://www.congeephoenix.com/home__%2526...38913%253B

In the plaza on the corner I assume? (which is currently undergoing a facelift)

Has anybody heard if there are any plans to take over the space that Baton Rouge occupied in Uptown? Although, I would assume nobody would start anything until after the LRT construction on King.

There's a coming soon sign in the plaza at Fischer-Hallman/Ottawa across from Sunrise for a new restaurant (or take out place) called Tandoori Xpress. Its good to see some more ethnic foods making their way into the suburbs.

The former service station at King W and Wellington is being renovated and a sign has gone up for "Phat Cat" - a gyro/shwarma place. I also saw a sign up for a new "The General Pizza" on King St E at Betzner.

Happy to see something like this in Midtown, and a great excuse to hit the new Spur Line trail.

Sunrise Shopping Centre's change into Boardwalk 2 is continuing.
There is a coming soon for 'Bar Burrito' in the same strip as the new Dollarama and South Street Burger.

From today's Record:

Belmont Village hosting local food market
Waterloo Region Record

By Jenna Braun

WATERLOO REGION — Rainbow chard, kale, spinach and other seasonal produce are ready to be picked for Belmont Village's new local food market on the corner of Belmont Avenue and Claremont Avenue.

The market opens June 16 at 1 p.m. The grand opening is June 23, also at 1 p.m. Fresh, clean fruits and veggies can be purchased, harvested from the Sustainable Market, which guarantees all produce is grown without the use of GMOs and chemicals.

Subsequently, Belmont Local Food Market will be open every Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the rest of the summer. ...

It seems that Mambella's Midtown is likely no more. Passing by on the bus, the sign is down, and it appears that they've vacated. A lot of the furniture has moved into the Columbia location.
