I think in all of these cases a visitor is looking at a map, which should help with much of the needed context. E.g. any reasonable map makes it blindingly obvious that this station is a connection to intercity train service.

Surely there will be many wonderful APPs for our "smartphones" to eliminate all the confusion anticipated by all as shown here ... while the city size is different here are examples:
