It's sad that Japanese food is being driven down to the lowest common denominator (AYCE) in Kitchener-Waterloo ...

There really isn't a ton of high quality Japanese food to show people how good it can be, thus people go to AYCE

Niko Niko has decent sushi.

But to paraphrase Section ThirtyOne, there is more to Japanese cuisine than sushi and teriyaki chicken.  Kinkaku demonstrated some of that, but it has now been shunted to the take-out menu.
