The technology was created by an independent company who began selling their machines to any shops who could afford the high price tag. My first experience with one was in Ottawa at the Bridgehead location in the Glebe (if memory serves). Starbucks then caught wind of the machine and purchased the technology/company outright. Once the purchase closed, no further machines were sold and Starbucks quickly became the only place you can find one. Due to their high cost, only selected locations have them. Starbucks on Fairway Road by The Works also has one, possibly the location at University/King as well.

I know that many here may frown on Starbucks and coffee purists will balk at an automated machine, but damn, it makes a fine cup of coffee. Try one out next time, it is about $1.00/cup more expensive than the usual drip coffee served.

It's open today. I walked past to (12:15) and from (12:45) lunch, and it was pretty full both times. I didn't go in, but I think it's a very well done space.

Yeah, it's really nice inside and a good atmosphere.  Most of the staff are clearly still learning how to do almost everything but everyone has a good attitude.

Yes, very nice. Even if the coffee is the same as in the Waterloo SB, this location is way more fabulous.

Do you go to a coffee shop for food and dining?  Sure, they often have desserts and perhaps a couple of sandwiches but I wouldn’t call it dining.

Most would, however, call it food.  Add in sandwiches and salads, among other things, and it seems a lot like "dining" to me.

This particular thread, at least is here, because (1) someone posted about the DTK Starbucks in this thread, and (2) other people replied here.

We don't do a lot of thread policing in general.
