" Château" is French for "castle". Lots of châteaix in Canada, but only a few castles. Closest that comes to mind would be Dundurn Castle in Hamilton.

Unique looking house going up at 27 Carisbrook Drive in Kitchener. Sorry I didn't have my phone with me to take a pic.
I also find 3061 University Ave East between Northfield and Bridge interesting.

There are also the various very, large houses popping up in the countryside. It will be interesting to see how they age. Interestingly, a lot of the large houses of the early 1900s have been torn down because the owners couldn't find anyone to buy them. (I'm thinking of Margaret Ave near the Centre in the Square in particular)

I am really enjoying this thread! I’ve always felt KW had some really interesting and diverse neighbourhoods and unique houses tucked away. Here are two of my recent finds:

I wonder whether that's original, a new build or just a very impressive reno, Kitchener's GIS system has no building permits listed at all. That stretch of Forest Hill Dr was pretty prestigious, back in the day. |
