Ok, I see what you’re getting at. Although if we want to be really pessimistic about Bombardier maybe Metrolinx is counting on being able to reduce the contract.

Or we can be optimistic and believe that Metrolinx is actually planning to construct the Sheppard LRT and possibly other LRTs besides. This order could be partially diverted to Mississauga and Hamilton.

Or maybe there will just end up being a fire sale on unneeded vehicles.

I don't see why they *wouldn't* be used in Hamilton and Mississauga.  IIRC the trade for 100% cost coverage in those two cities was that Metrolinx was to handle construction and operation of those routes, so it would seem obvious they would use those vehicles for those lines.

How many Flexities would Mississauga and Hamilton need? 90 is a big number and a lot of trains.

Metrolinx is finally admitting legal defeat. They will continue to work within the contract dispute resolution process.

It's great news, but they were still able to place one final blow:

Wonder if they'll go back to CN; they went to Bombardier because they weren't getting what they wanted from CN. VIA maybe?

More likely Keolis or Veolia.

The way I read that is that BBD won't be allowed to bid for the review (because they would be reviewing their own operations) but they might not necessarily be blocked from bidding for the operation of the system.

In any case, BBD's current contract runs out to 2023, so unless Metrolinx can argue that BBD is in breach of contract on that, too, they would be unlikely to be able to terminate early.

Is… is that a condition of bidding? If I want to run the trains, will I need to name my company Neolith or Sheolic or something like that?

Aeolian!

That sounds like a nipple cream.

It's actually an ancient Greek reference ('of Aeolus'). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeolus

Aeolus; Son of Hippotes. Keeper of the Winds. Protector of the chaffed.

Perhaps old news, but York Region to test 6 electric buses in Newmarket for 2 years.

The charging station/pantograph looks interesting.
