I seem to recall - and this is a couple years ago now - a proposal to extend the Laurel Trail alongside the Waterloo Spur, next to the Ion tracks and beyond Northfield to the St. Jacobs Market where it would connect with the existing Trans-Canada Trail.

Does anyone know if this has gone anywhere? is the section towards Northfield included in the Ion agreement in any way?

This seems like a logical move, but as far as I know there's nothing in the Ion agreement. It doesn't look to be in the drawings.

Anyone know if this is planned, or if indeed there would be enough space along the spur in which to do it?
I'm loving the Spur Line Trail so far! Can't wait until all the paving is completed.

Nice! I keep on trying to go on the Spur Line and finding it to be not paved yet. Thanks for the pic!

When I was on it yesterday it was paved from Regina St to Union only.

When I was on it yesterday it was paved from Regina St to Union only.

Moore to Roger is also paved, as is Weber to Wellington.

The retaining wall near Goodrich park is slowing progress near Guelph.

It is in the City's long-term plan, but there are plenty of other infrastructure projects that are ahead of it in line.  What I expect will happen would be incremental trail development as various parcels of land in the area are developed.  The first stretch of trail (or at least a public walking corridor) could happen around the NCR property re-development, but that could take a few years given that the parcels closest to the train tracks won't likely be touched until 2017 at the earliest.
Did the Iron Horse Trail close at Gage today as planned or is it still open?
Yes, it looked closed. At least, from my vantage point on a bus on Belmont.

Len’s Mill Store said they could have to relocate, if they lose their zoning. To date, no solution has been found.


Does this imply they don't feel they need the parking, they just need it to satisfy zoning requirements?

Surely they would be grandfathered if the zoning were changed.
Don't most zoning by-laws have clauses that permit preexisting uses?
