So they just wasted even more money buying Alstom LRV's. I don't see why they *wouldn't* be used in Hamilton and Mississauga. IIRC the trade for 100% cost coverage in those two cities was that Metrolinx was to handle construction and operation of those routes, so it would seem obvious they would use those vehicles for those lines. RE: Toronto transit projects - tomh009 - 07-08-2017 How many Flexities would Mississauga and Hamilton need? 90 is a big number and a lot of trains. RE: Toronto transit projects - Pheidippides - 07-13-2017 Bombardier admits it may miss 2017 TTC streetcar delivery target RE: Toronto transit projects - Markster - 07-21-2017 Metrolinx is finally admitting legal defeat. They will continue to work within the contract dispute resolution process.

BREAKING -- Metrolinx is conceding their legal battle with Bomber over LRV order, won't appeal judge's decision after all. #onpoli
— Oliver Moore (@moore_oliver) July 21, 2017
RE: Toronto transit projects - Canard - 07-22-2017 It's great news, but they were still able to place one final blow:

Also in this story, Metrolinx seeking another operator for GO Transit, Bombardier won't be allowed to bid: https://t.co/o9kMwdSyYJ
— Ben Spurr (@BenSpurr) July 21, 2017
RE: Toronto transit projects - DHLawrence - 07-22-2017 Wonder if they'll go back to CN; they went to Bombardier because they weren't getting what they wanted from CN. VIA maybe? RE: Toronto transit projects - Canard - 07-22-2017 More likely Keolis or Veolia. RE: Toronto transit projects - tomh009 - 07-22-2017 The way I read that is that BBD won't be allowed to bid for the review (because they would be reviewing their own operations) but they might not necessarily be blocked from bidding for the operation of the system. In any case, BBD's current contract runs out to 2023, so unless Metrolinx can argue that BBD is in breach of contract on that, too, they would be unlikely to be able to terminate early. If I want to run the trains, will I need to name my company Neolith or Sheolic or something like that? RE: Toronto transit projects - KevinL - 07-23-2017 Aeolian! RE: Toronto transit projects - Canard - 07-23-2017 That sounds like a nipple cream. RE: Toronto transit projects - KevinL - 07-23-2017 It's actually an ancient Greek reference ('of Aeolus'). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeolus RE: Toronto transit projects - notmyfriends - 07-23-2017 Aeolus; Son of Hippotes. Keeper of the Winds. Protector of the chaffed. RE: Toronto transit projects - Pheidippides - 08-04-2017 Perhaps old news, but York Region to test 6 electric buses in Newmarket for 2 years. The charging station/pantograph looks interesting. RE: Toronto transit projects - Canard - 08-04-2017 Good catch, looks like they're Volvo buses. |
