York (with 1.6x our population) has delivered 2.2x the doses of Waterloo Region. I don't think our region is sitting on an inventory of doses, either. But, admittedly, York has 4.5x the per-100K infection rate so the situation is definitely more desperate there. RE: The COVID-19 pandemic - JoeKW - 04-09-2021 Yeah this is clearly a triage situation and is probably the humanitarian thing to do. RE: The COVID-19 pandemic - Bjays93 - 04-09-2021 Today's numbers are ugly. And they will keep rising for at least another week. The outlook isnt that great and tons of people were still out yesterday. RE: The COVID-19 pandemic - tomh009 - 04-09-2021 (04-09-2021, 12:11 PM)Bjays93 Wrote: Today's numbers are ugly. Yes, mid-to-late next week before any impact from the stay-at-home will be visible. I expect we'll hit 5,500 cases provincially and maybe 6,000. Hopefully the new rules will help turn that around before it's 7,000. I'm less worried about outside activity, in the end, than indoor parties, family events and other activities. No, I agree its the right choice. What I wish is that we had more transparency into these things. Only regions with at least two cases per 100,000 population RE: The COVID-19 pandemic - danbrotherston - 04-10-2021 These are VERY bad numbers for Ontario...only pretty bad for Waterloo. I hear London is also VERY bad. RE: The COVID-19 pandemic - tomh009 - 04-10-2021 (04-10-2021, 09:36 PM)danbrotherston Wrote: These are VERY bad numbers for Ontario...only pretty bad for Waterloo. Indeed they are. Will the stay-at-home help? I really don't know at this point. The order went into effect on Thursday morning. Five or so days minimum to start seeing some impact (assuming there is one) -- based on days from infection to positive test -- plus two days of provincial reporting lag, so Thursday-ish. I hope it works, because I don't know that they have anything better in reserve. And the ICU numbers will get much worse yet, even if stay-at-home works.
