In July or August?

And that rules out many other arena's in Ontario as many of them are booked with other events that don't require ice.

It needs to get started by June 1 at the latest. The regular season is done. Select top 8 teams max, as others have mentioned, best of 3 for first 2 rounds, then best of 7 for last round. That gets it done by July 1.

They might have to.

Another factor is that the CDC has ruled out any large groups until at least May 15 -- so the American teams either need to play in empty arena's, just players and coaches and refs and support staff, or play at a neutral side.
Im expecting playoffs to be played empty, which will be real weird but better than not having them at all imo

I confess that I'll be surprised if the hockey year isn't simply over and done with. All signs point to it being June, at best, before things start returning to normal. Playoffs without fans (or even practices) would still not be consistent with the required social distancing. It's done folks - see you in the fall (one hopes).

I agree with your assessment.

No point discussing it anymore. The OHL is over for the year. I guess they'll be back to practising in August.

They actually only announced the cancellation of the regular season; the playoffs and the Memorial Cup are not yet cancelled. But I do expect them to be as well.
