Over 400 rental units will be added on Quiet Place in Waterloo, but affordable units won't be included

The current NIMBY playbook. Shadows, traffic, affordable, attainable. And the one guy that likes a tiny, run down Tim Horton's.

Is the consultant for the developer setting them up for high rents or when the rents are less (closer to current market) tenants will feel like they got a deal? As Tom pointed out, her figures seem off?

Her figures seem far, far off. But who knows who they're expecting to rent to. Likely a lot of persnickety this build is geared towards, and DINKS. In that regard, perhaps this is best for Waterloo.

Cranes are up, but the links higher up in this thread are broken. Does anyone have a copy of the proposed rendering?

Because they are specifically outlawed in the planning and zoning codes…  Sad

If our current population growth is at zero, who is going to live in all of these apartments that are currently under construction or recently completed? Definitely not the homeless. None of the apartments completed in the past 5 years are lowering rents. They are offering move in incentives but not lower monthly rents.

That is one ugly blob of a building.

I don't think it will stay at zero.

People want to live in cities where all the opportunities are - it won’t be zero, unless we stop building housing…

That's really it. At the national level, we don't have a huge housing shortage. However, the available housing is not where people want to live ...

I have seen students posting cheaper rents than I've seen in a while.
