Good point, I imagine some people did sneak into the US. Though, we still have people here who are drifting around precariously. A lot turn to crime or sex work as they cannot easily work. Some are also taken advantage of too. I'm vague friends with a cashier at a store I frequent. She's from India of course, essentially working in bondage at this store. The owner took her documents and underpays her under the table. She allows it to happen in fear of losing her job and facing more serious consequences. In many cases, they apparently have no idea where these people are now: https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/20000-indian-students-didnt-show-in-class-after-arriving-in-canada-what-happened-to-them My Iranian student did not manage to get a US visa, even to visit to attend a conference. I don't think this is easy. RE: Conestoga College - panamaniac - 02-08-2025 Who said anything about visas? Usually it's more overstayers than illegal crossings. Not hard at all to cross here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/XwwuU1JMMvEXKhSx6 OK, that one is so obvious maybe they’re watching it way more than it appears. But the point is that it is a long border and there are all sorts of places to cross where roads come close on both sides. And by definition we’re talking about people who are to a greater or lesser degree desperate for a change, so a chance of capture may either be acceptable or just not something they’re really thinking about. Plenty. Search around for it if you're curious. Please save me from unnecessarily duplicating your research and provide the evidence for me here. Who knows, maybe others can benefit from your research.
