Hopefully it's good! I've been wanting an italian place downtown for a while. I'm talking about this one: https://www.google.ca/maps/uv?hl=en&pb=!1s0x882bf4f4b83c648b%3A0x7e3055d0548f445!2m22!2m2!1i80!2i80!3m1!2i20!16m16!1b1!2m2!1m1!1e1!2m2!1m1!1e3!2m2!1m1!1e5!2m2!1m1!1e4!2m2!1m1!1e6!3m1!7e115!4shttps%3A%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipNdllKz7EvjpmJNIi1r5izDv95Qe2DfUaHynlj6%3Dw260-h175-n-k-no!5sGoogle%20Search&imagekey=!1e10!2sAF1QipNdllKz7EvjpmJNIi1r5izDv95Qe2DfUaHynlj6 RE: Pizza - panamaniac - 01-18-2018 (01-18-2018, 05:12 PM)urbd Wrote:(01-18-2018, 05:09 PM)Viewfromthe42 Wrote: I'm kind of wondering if this is the San Francisco Panini place from farther east on King. From the name, you'd think "isn't this just Quick sandwiches?", but their menu has a lot more than that, and quite good, a nice Italian addition to 271 West. Good to see that empty space finally being used again! Is this an expansion for La Cucina in Guelph, I wonder? But I am looking forward to their opening to see a second wood-fired oven (thin-crust) pizza option in DTK; hopefully their pizzas will be all that I am dreaming of.

Good to know. Thanks RE: Pizza - kaiserdiver - 01-19-2018 Unfortunately breadheads is only open M-F, 9-3. I'm glad to see more options in DTK, hopefully with longer hours. This is the #1 reason I'm happy to see a second one arrive. I expect they will also a different selection of pizza toppings. RE: Pizza - jwilliamson - 01-20-2018 City Cafe also does wood fired thin crust pizzas. RE: Pizza - jgsz - 04-10-2018 La Cucina's page suggests they're open. Has anyone eaten there? The pasta was compared unfavourably to Belmont Bistro, but Belmost Bistro is distinctly different price point. It's by far the most authentic Italian pizza in the region. It's been a while since I've been to Bread Heads, so I can't say that I prefer La Cucina's offering, but it's certainly more authentic (which isn't necessarily what Bread Heads is going for). RE: Pizza - jamincan - 04-10-2018 As someone who isn't a pizza connoisseur, where does Famoso's stack in terms of authenticity? RE: Pizza - JoeKW - 04-10-2018 My list of 'authenticity' is like thus: 1. Buon Gusto (In Guelph) . . . 2. Famosos 3. Breadheads Buon Gusto is so far ahead of the game that I need to include them in this list. If La Cucina manages to beat famosos I'd be very pleased but I don't expect them to come close to Buon Gusto. |
