RE: GO Transit - yige_t - 04-04-2018 (04-04-2018, 12:32 PM)Canard Wrote: Does Presto do the automatic day-pass thing if you spend more on trips throughout the day than a cost of a day-pass? No, only automatic monthly fare capping. Very few people make more than one round-trip in a day on a GO corridor, hence why their "Day Pass" is really just a round-trip ticket priced at 2x single fare. However, you will get a discount of $4.71 every time you make another trip, within 3 hours of beginning the first trip. This is intended as a transfer credit for trips involving train-bus or bus-bus connections (e.g. Kitchener - Square One - Union), but works for quick return trips as well (eg. Weston - Union - Weston) RE: GO Transit - bgb_ca - 04-04-2018 From the go transit site https://beta.gotransit.com/en/trip-planning/fares/fares Day Pass A day pass gives you unlimited travel for one day between two specified fare zones. For example, if you want to make a return trip, then you buy a day pass. A day pass is: Equivalent to buying two one-way fares within the same fare zone. Valid on the day of purchase only; cannot be purchased in advance. This is tickets only, not presto though RE: GO Transit - plam - 04-04-2018 Just failed to take two GO buses today. Must be something about the weather. Google told me there was a 25C today to Square One but it never showed up. (I thought the express to Square One used to be Friday-only but the 4:10pm one now seems to be every day). Then I biked to Kitchener Charles and waited for the 30, and it also didn't show up. Not the best day to spend 30 minutes waiting for the bus. RE: GO Transit - Canard - 04-04-2018 I’m talking about a TTC day pass of course. Not the best day to spend 30 minutes waiting for the bus.Widespread bus delays on Routes 24, 25 and 30 today due to the weather and resulting traffic conditions along the 401. You can usually check for these things on their website at https://beta.gotransit.com/en/trip-planning/go-service-updates#bus-updates or Twitter at @GOTransitBus (04-04-2018, 06:46 PM)Canard Wrote: I’m talking about a TTC day pass of course. And you've posted in the GO Transit thread, which is what everyone thought you were talking about. TTC will eventually eliminate the Day Pass and move to PRESTO daily capping, but with no set timeline. https://stevemunro.ca/2016/12/27/ttc-presto-update-december-2016/ RE: GO Transit - bgb_ca - 04-04-2018 (04-04-2018, 07:08 PM)yige_t Wrote: TTC will eventually eliminate the Day Pass and move to PRESTO daily capping, but with no set timeline. Well that sucks. When I go to Toronto and know I'm going to be riding the transit system a fair bit I grab one instead of using presto. Daily capping ensures that if you use a PRESTO, you can use it as many times as you want in a day and never be charged more than the price of an existing Day Pass. You'll be charged per each trip until the "daily cap" and then get unlimited free rides until end of the day. RE: GO Transit - jamincan - 04-04-2018 Two lanes of the westbound 401 west of Hespeler were closed due to a collision this afternoon, so the drive back into town was hell. Google took me off the highway, but pretty much every detour possibility was backed up too. I'm guessing all the buses were stuck trying to get back into KW. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/kitchener-waterloo/westbound-401-closed-transport-truck-collision-1.4605133 RE: GO Transit - MacBerry - 04-14-2018 Some folks here might be interested in how GO Transit says it develops and decides on station modeling: Technical Report: GO Expansion New Stations Modelling Backgrounder RE: GO Transit - ijmorlan - 04-14-2018 (04-14-2018, 07:41 AM)MacBerry Wrote: Some folks here might be interested in how GO Transit says it develops and decides on station modeling: Strange. I didn’t see any discussion of how they gerrymander their model outputs to support whatever harebrained scheme the Minister or Mayor wants. RE: GO Transit - Pheidippides - 04-26-2018 Does this mean that PRESTO card will soon have an option to be a card in a digital wallet on phones? http://www.metrolinx.com/en/docs/pdf/board_agenda/20180426/20180426_BoardMtg_PRESTO_Mobile_EN.pdf RE: GO Transit - KevinL - 04-26-2018 (04-26-2018, 10:10 PM)Pheidippides Wrote: Does this mean that PRESTO card will soon have an option to be a card in a digital wallet on phones? They can put stations at Hespeler, Ion phase 2, and Preston. 100% support this option. |
