Do they actually manufacture the machine? RE: Made in Waterloo Region - rangersfan - 09-11-2017 I am pretty sure that they do. RE: Made in Waterloo Region - rangersfan - 09-11-2017 Does anyone know if kaleidescape manufacturers anything in Waterloo? I believe their Waterloo office is only a software team. RE: Made in Waterloo Region - rangersfan - 09-12-2017 Thanks for letting me know. I first heard about Virtek about 15 years ago. The CFO at the company I worked at had come from there. At the time, it was pretty amazing what they were doing. Their machines (back then - don't know about now) looked like gigantic overhead projects from the 70's and 80's (ie, my rural school in the 90's ). You'd put your laser-cut stamped metal parts on the glass bed, and a laser beam would come out of the "head" above, which was a mirror (IIRC) on a two-axis setup and it would trace the part. Then you'd get a very accurate DXF file out of whatever it was you scanned.![]() Edit - Image added RE: Made in Waterloo Region - panamaniac - 09-15-2018 Another thread bumped ... There was an article in the Record the other day about Athletica Sports Systems of Waterloo https://athletica.com/ They make the "dasher boards" that surround hockey rinks, among other things. Apparently 29 of 31 NHL rinks use Athletica's boards. I had no idea. https://www.therecord.com/news-story/8902420-waterloo-based-athletica-expands-into-western-canada-and-asia-with-acquisition/ RE: Made in Waterloo Region - Chicopee - 09-15-2018 I known Roadtrek has been mentioned here before, but it's worth mentioning again. They have since been purchased by the Erwin Hymer Group, the top RV manufacturer in Europe. They have four facilities in Waterloo Region: Shirley Avenue, Shirley Drive, Reuter Drive (beside Toyota (TMMC)) in a building that previously housed ATS, and Blackberry 'C1', and a brand new facility on Tyler in Cambridge off Pinebush. They currently manufacture the number one selling class B motor home in North America. They are booming, and holing job fairs. I don't know of any other local employer who is so desperate to hire that they have commercials on the radio trying to get people in the door. Good news indeed and I wish them continued success! An asset to the region for sure. RE: Made in Waterloo Region - Coke6pk - 09-16-2018 (09-15-2018, 12:31 PM)panamaniac Wrote: Another thread bumped ...
