Rare for a mainstream Protestant congregation to be able to afford such upgrades nowadays. It's a beautiful church, iirc.

Organized religion is pretty good at picking its followers up, turning them upside down and shaking their pockets out when they need money for something.

Organized religion? You mean democratic western governments...

P.S.
Nice job painting all religions with the same brush... It's not a good look for you...

I’d say it’s on-brand.

Well, it's an objective fact. Religion is a multi-trillion dollar grift regardless of the religion or denomination of religion. There's no shortage of money when they need it, even for the Protestants.

Anybody got the details on the new restaurant/store going in at Weber & Northfield beside Shoppers & State and Main?

Just because you say something is an objective fact, does not mean it is an objective fact... You do realize that right?

Your little back-handed comments must make you feel so cool eh...

It's funny because whether you follow a religion or not, someone like you is literally part of a multi-trillion dollar grift, but you fail to perceive it...

Let's end the religion conversation and move on.

I already made a thread about it

500 units is big -- that's about 20 units per floor, assuming the Waterloo height restrictions. It would need to be either two towers or one very large floorplate.

I can't get excited yet, given how few substantial central Waterloo proposals have actually broken ground in the last 10 years.

It's shocking to think the building will be mostly demolished. Surely the four storey front section merits preservation beyond just the facade?

I'll be interested to see what kind of apartment development includes a hub for arts and entertainment and how that would be financed.

I can't say much about it but its still in the early stages of design, much of the investigative geotechnical work was only completed a couple of weeks ago.

Goodbye to another heritage building I guess.
