Kitchener's Natural Areas Program - Shawn - 09-16-2014 Discover Nature in the City LINK to City of Kitchener site Kitchener's Natural Areas Program (KNAP) is an environmental program that is focused on the stewardship of natural areas in our community. This program is funded and delivered by the City of Kitchener. KNAP was created in 2006 with the Kitchener-Waterloo Field Naturalists and Waterloo Stewardship Network as partners. The goals of KNAP:   Engage the community in environmental stewardship projects.     Educate people about Kitchener's natural areas.     Create opportunities for people to experience nature in the city. Upcoming events: Fall 2014     Sunday, Sept. 21, 1 p.m.  Underwater Ecology. Huron Natural Area.  Meet at the picnic shelter near the main entrance.          Learn about life under the water as we take our nets and buckets and try to find some of the incredible aquatic creatures that live in the water at the Huron Natural Area.  All equipment and supplies will be provided.  Free - all ages welcome!   Saturday, Oct. 4, 1 p.m.  It's a Bug's Life.  Huron Natural Area.  Meet at the picnic shelter near the main entrance.        Butterflies, treehoppers, dragonflies, beetles and spiders will be our focus as we discover life in the meadow.  Join other amateur entomologists for this exciting afternoon event.  All equipment will be provided.  Free - all ages welcome!   [b] Sunday, Oct 5, 1 p.m. Lakeside Park fall event. Meet at the parking and playground area entrance on Lakeside Drive. [/b]        Join neighbours and friends for this annual event in the park. We will sharing the park management plan, hosting our first tree planting and park naturalization project and have a variety of kids activties. Free - all ages welcome!
