595 Strasburg Road
595 Strasburg Road, Kitchener

A 9 floor residential building is under construction at 595 Strasburg road. The building will be 9 floors and will have 2 floors of underground parking which will be shared with the neighbouring 8 floor building at 593 Strasburg road as the building is being constructed on what was the parking lot for the building. The building will have 107 rental units over the 9 floors. There are currently no renders for the property.

The site is currently being excavated and its about 1.5 floors down as of today. Rebar has been delivered to the site as well but progress on the site has been fairly slow over the last few months. There are a few posts in the General Suburban updates thread about this project including some pictures. The site as of today:

Notably this is the same parcel of land as its neighbour 593 Strasburg, and until this spring was that building's parking lot. The new building is expected to have sufficient garage parking for both.
The residents have been parking on nearby roadsides since construction started. I haven't heard what the plan is for the upcoming winter.

That would be a pain in the ass, especially when you're moving groceries. I'd imagine the city will give up exemptions during the construction period, though during a declared snow emergency, they'll likely have to park over at Zehrs. Unless most of the tenants have been renovicted, in which case, no issues.

A slab pour was recently completed, and they've started putting in precast walls and other components; this differs from its neighbour where the work is being cast in place.

The first above-ground storey is being assembled. There's a faux-brick texture on the exterior of the precast.

They now have signs up saying occupancy in February 2023. It seems like a tight timeline since they still have the parking garage between the two buildings to complete. The interior seems to be progressing quickly though so they might have everyone park on the street like the current building if the garage isn't complete.

It is definitely not occupied yet. They are still finishing the underground parking garage where the crane was sitting when they were building the tower, they just finished excavating that area 2 weeks ago. The interior of the building looks to be onto detailed finishing like flooring and appliances on the lower floors, and drywall is almost complete on the last few floors of the building. Early summer seems to be a reasonable time for occupancy of lower floors.

Here's a updated picture, the working floor is complete for the remainder of the parking garage so structural work should be starting soon.
