Re-route wasn't the best word choice, more like adding a chicane (I highlighted those potential gates I mentioned earlier):
You can see the part of the island and bollards that stick out in to the current trail that Dan mentioned. So the new routing resolves that problem, but creates new ones:
- The increased turning radius of the corners at ring road are needed to allow the buses to make the turns but also allows vehicles to take the turns faster (should only be buses using that road though - maybe UW service vehicles too?)
- The potential gates on the trail, if that's what they are, would be a major inconvenience given the volume of traffic on that part of the trail; but I guess they don't want anyone darting in front of a bus as it turns.
- Also, would riding across the new intersection without cross-ride designation and markings be illegal?
Everyone move to the back of the bus and we all get home faster.
