The red lollipop-style signs are pretty neat.

Maybe someday they’ll be as iconic as London Underground signs!

So does this mean we beat Ottawa??

It's possible they could still announce a (say) mid-June launch date, but I think that's getting increasingly unlikely at this point.

This seems to say late July at earliest?

I like their use of Alstom Coradia LINT trains. While they are diesel powered, they are nice and big inside. I've spent some time in European cities where they use those. The Stadler FLIRT trains will be quite similar. Nice to see they electrified the Confederation Line and are using Alstom Citadis Spirit - less pollution and noise that way.

Alstom has finally completed the work on the trains, and the LRT is now onto the full-blown test. They are expecting a handover to the city on 16 August, with service starting in mid-September.

In the end, the contest between Waterloo Region and Ottawa wasn't even close: it looks like their service will start roughly three months after ours.

A successful opening yesterday!

Many updates with photos etc are available online from various individuals' social media; the best overview I found was this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttek78mRoRg

Very impress with Ottawa system and was there on opening day. Got on a train at 1:50 in place of the plan 2 pm. Not as busy as I thought it would be, similar to KW opening.

Been short on trains, still ran 15 pairs every 4 minutes, but at times it was between 4-7 minutes, depending on the time of day and stations. Blair seem to be a problem station for fares with long backup.

A few issues today, but par for the courses. Come Oct 6 will be a tell tale for the system with a number of route disappearing along with buses and 600 drivers.
