I was away the week they were put in, but I don't see any sign of them leading anywhere right now. I suppose they will be extended or connected after the track is moved.

Hmm... I guess the grading of the area makes that unavoidably the single drainage point for the Breithaupt Block.  4 big pipes to make extra sure that there is no conceivable flood that could overwhelm them.

This picture is what often happens in Toronto because they didn't prepare for water runoff  ...
via asphalt surfaces

There will be thousands of gallons running down King Street from Wellington (the top of the hill) whenever it rains.

So... where is all that runoff supposed to runoff to, then? The pipes will (supposedly) remove it from the breithaupt block, but then where? This will all be where the transit hub is going, and I doubt they want a pond on site.

One street that comes to mind is Park at the rail overhead. Surprisingly, it has never been remedied.

I heard at one time that some of Victoria street near King is part of a flood plain. Just low, not near a body of water.

I thought that it was remedied about a decade ago. It may still be a problem, but not nearly as bad as it was before.

New Duke crossing paved today and looks about ready to re-open.

Underground stuff is under  some ground.

That's the Northbound platform work (cones with the rope strung along)!

It's just sand though. No concrete yet.

RE: King Street Underpass at the Transit HUB - Canard - 08-08-2016

Ok - but it will be the platform. Smile The latest ion update (came out today) mentioned that work on the platform had begun. That's significant, because it means that all of the wet utility work underground is now complete, and we're in the "rebuild" phase.

I'm in 1 Victoria and the ION Construction Team has given notice that they are working on the water tomorrow evening at 6 PM and that it will be shut off until 7 AM the next morning.

It looks like they are digging out the platform area to put the electrical duct work in.
