Another Waterloo Region Soviet style precast monstrosity. Looks perfect with the massive vertical prison Vive has going up in the background. The precast is so ugly, I really hadn't been paying attention to it too much but it's used way too much in the region. Yikes! It wasn't white in the original concept drawings shown back in 2022, so will there be cladding to make it look better? I haven't seen any updated renders since then. If this does get cladding ontop of the precast I would be entirely amazed because that doesn't happen. I haven't seen any updated renders since then. There is no way this gets a cladding on the precast. At best they may choose to paint it, but I wouldn't count on it. I will state again, Precast is not the issue here, it is the fact that they clearly chose the cheapest version of precast (standard shape Grey and White) there are some great precast sandwich panel building built all over the world. Mostly in Europe. But it is a race to the bottom in terms of style and execution in Waterloo region. I knew the instant Auburn was involved in the site that it would look like shit. Look at what happened to barrel yards. What a shame RE: The Metz (Schneiders site redevelopment) - ac3r - 05-03-2026 Welcome to Waterloo Region, North Korea! ![]() Seriously the skyline doesn't look much different, which is really sad. And as stated in a previous post, this is value engineering. These buildings aren't going to last too long. Everything in Canada - especially tied to our real estate, since our economy is so dependent on it - is an utter failure and scam nowadays.
