They probably don't want it becoming a major through-way for people getting to/from the highway. There is a MUT planned to go from King to Weber next to the highway as an extension of the Forwell trail to allow bike and pedestrian traffic to connect through to the new Weber MUT - not sure if it's been built yet, but the concept is here: https://www.engagewr.ca/12786/widgets/50...ents/39221

If designed correctly (i.e narrow lanes with bump out crosswalks and Stop signs) It would not become a major through way as most drivers would still go to the intersection at king and Weber. I feel like the city of Waterloo should be looking at developing a masterplan for this neighbourhood. This and the Waterloo in redevelopment could transform this area. |
