Did the big fire in Kitchener have any detrimental effect on the future TPSS site there? I hope not! When I heard on the radio that King/Cedar/Charles was all closed off, my heart sank.

Wrong block. The fire was west of Cedar towards Eby.

I guess only the outside edges of gauntlet tracks rust.

Since this treatment has been applied at road crossings, and in this case is being applied near the platform, I assume that it has to do with salt usage in the vicinity. Does that make sense?

Oh, duh! Great observation. That's probably it!

Surely they'd do the remaining rails at the stations as will then?

Yeah, just checked - all 4 rails are coated.

Yeah, just got word. Still trying to sort out the details - if it's the entire order, or just the LRV's that "Didn't have a home" after Rob Ford decided on day one in office to cancel everything in Transit City except the Crosstown.
CBC is now running an article on it:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/pr...-1.3835608 Unclear how this affects us. If they cancel the entire 182 LRV order, that includes us, because the 14 trains we ordered were part of the remaining trains that didn't have a home anymore after Rob Ford cancelled Transit City on his first day in office. Will try to find out more...

Quote:A Metrolinx spokesperson [....] Aikins said a notice of intent is not the same as a cancellation of the order, but said the agency remained concerned about Bombadier’s performance. Oh, we're fine then. Quote:Bombardier spokesperson Marc-Andre Lefebvre [....] said the company still has 16 months before production on the LRV fleet must begin. Ha, ha, just kidding. |
