A short section of King near the underpass has been dug up again. You can never have too many holes in King Street.
In other news, the last unrumpled building on the adjacent transit hub site is being torn down.

Frederick station has a long Jersey-barrier-style berm to keep cars from affecting the station, but passengers also need to be kept away from traffic. Yesterday they started putting up that barrier, which will be a glass wall:

It's always a shame when trivial pedestrian connections are forgotten.

Speaking of not thinking of pedestrians, just grass...
Yesterday I was sitting at the lights heading south on King at Pine. I watched a woman cross King then do a long detour to stay on the path. I am assuming this is GRH's problem, and not Grandlinq, but I was very surprised she didn't take the grass shortcut like I am sure most people will do.
Now I'm pretty sure she could have crossed the driveway (northbound) and headed down the sidewalk on that side, but the lights are so long the detour was likely quicker.

Is it just the photo, or is there also sloping involved between the two sides? Clever design work all around!

One must ask what they were thinking....

Well, there's a team doing LRT platforms and (I presume) a separate team doing sidewalks, MUTs, and bus shelters. Perhaps there wasn't enough communication between those...

Yeah, it looks like there's a small ditch between them that serves for drainage of the grassy area in the background.
There was definitely a disconnect with how stations interact with their immediate surroundings. Some stations had a little extra context specific design work done, but several are missing really trivial or obvious things.

The same is true at Kitchener City Hall - serving as the Duke sidewalk.
Queen is close, but more concrete work is needed at the Benton end of the platform.

Is this the intended use? Platform as sidewalk? Or will one be added later?
Progress seems to be rather slow as of late.

Yes, that's the intended function at Queen, Victoria Park, and City Hall (no room for one otherwise). Central Station will be similar, though they may put additional sidewalks behind those. Waterloo Square can be walked right into and out of, it's open to to the square behind.

Traffic signal detection loops and pedestrian buttons seem to be activated at at least Allan and William on King.
Of course drivers are unlikely to notice while staring down at their phones.

Frederick isn't the only station with a glass wall partition!
