The CPC candidate for Kitchener-Conestoga, Carlene Hawley, knocked on my grandpa's door without a mask and unvaccinated. He also lives in a retirement village so all homeowners/tenants were seniors (ie. immunocompromised). How is this allowed? Can I report her to bylaw or something?

Masks are indeed required in the common areas of multi-residential buildings. Whether by-law enforcement would do anything about is another matter.

It bothers me that they would not...doubly so because you are probably right.
Bylaw and police have been very selective in who they enforce against. But I'm no longer surprised by that kind of thing.
That being said, the management of the centre might be able to raise a stink about it. Certainly I know that our condo corporation would take some limited action as a result of that kind of thing.

A word to the media would have more impact ...

Tim Louis was attacked in the street today while campaigning with his wife and child. A man followed him and his family around. The daughter was told to fuck off and had a door slammed on her face. The man then began to follow Tim Louis accusing him of being a Communist fucking pussy. His wife was then accused by someone else for taking away his rights.

No doubt, these attackers are just a few more brain-dead, angry PPC Qanon lunatics. These people are dangerous.

Attacked PHYSICALLY? I agree though, if people aren't interested, just tell them. Or go further, and tell them 'why'. Things like "you have done nothing for this riding, or your party's the reason for high house prices, etc.". Being chased is just wrong (that is all I could find about this attacked).
But having a door slammed on you, being told to f*** off, is part and parcel of the course, and MP's are not unique in having this happen to them. I did sales for a telecommunications company way back and being told to f*** off, yelled at, having a door slammed on you, and being spit at happened daily.
Damn, I saw girl guides (once) being yelled at and told to f*** off. It's a problem with our society.
So I get why they'd be upset, not sure I understand the why of publicizing it.

This isn't okay, and it doesn't matter if it was "PHYSICALLY" or not. Same as with the people asking if the PM was "actually hit" by rocks and "how big" those rocks were.
If these aren't questions you would ask a six year old before giving them consequences, then they aren't questions you need to ask an adult before punishment is justified.
As for why they are publicizing it, it's pretty clear, this is not normal, this is not behaviour they've experienced before. I understand many people want to put blinders on and pretend that nothing is going on, but we are seeing a major resurgence of angry violent behaviour. It is not a normal year when rocks are thrown at the PM, it is not a normal year when the police and security IGNORE that incident. It is not a normal year when candidates for a party implied Trudeau should be hung. How much more do we need to hear before people will wake up and face the rising fascism and hate in our community. Because if we keep ignoring it, things will not turn out well for us.

FWIW someone came by my house canvassing for her just about an hour ago and swore to me that she's vaccinated. I'm still not voting for her but just thought I'd put that out there.

Did anyone watch the local debate between Mike and Beisan? I really do like them both. Mike is incredibly thoughtful and measured with everything he says. I think Beisan is a bit more scattered and more confrontational, but there is no doubt in my mind that she's highly intelligent. Her facial expressions throughout the debate were crazy! I would be happy with either candidate, but my preference is Beisan. I think the boy's club in Ottawa needs women like Beisan to put them in their place.

Didn't know there was a local debate on! Just the two of them? Is it viewable online somewhere?

There is a reddit thread in r/kitchener with the link. The debate happened on Wednesday. Mary was supposed to be there too, but she did not show up.

Also, the chamber hosted a debate (also only Morrice/Zubi in this one):

Yes, spitting is an assault. How easy is it to charge, though, another story (we were told not to bother the police, as back then, police didn't care about stuff like that). I believe it is covered in the second link:
Yelling isn't an assault though, unless you're uttering threats (then it isn't called yelling). It might be considered disturbing the peace though:
https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts...n-175.html
I believe following someone could be considered assault, depending on context. https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts...n-265.html
Quote:(b) he attempts or threatens, by an act or a gesture, to apply force to another person, if he has, or causes that other person to believe on reasonable grounds that he has, present ability to effect his purpose; or
Again, easy conviction? Probably not, as this is sadly a common thing.
Again, being yelled at and chased off property seemed to be pretty normal. In speaking with some people, highest incidence seems to be Quebec.
Unfortunately we have a lot of goons in our society, and they're not just fascist ( https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatche...-1.6168611) that are doing the attacking, it's all walks of life, and it seems that not many PM's can escape being attacked.
It's happened to both Trudeaus, it's happened to Mulroney, it's happened to Chrétien, it's happened to Harper (this one was a little more serious). I can't recall or Martin, Campbell. Too young for Clark.

Yelling isn't the problem, but pursuing someone *IS* a problem.
If these things aren't being prosecuted, that's a different issue, but that is going to be driven by our social acceptance of this harmful (and illegal) behaviour.
Frankly, I was extremely disturbed to hear our regional councillor Michael Harris agree with the idea that Candidates should just suck it up and accept that they're going to be assaulted on the campaign trail.
Normalizing and tolerating this behaviour *IS* the problem.
As for what happened to the PM, that's a different story. Yes, those kinds of things do happen on occasion, but it's not common at campaign events...yet in this election the liberals have repeatedly been shut down by violent protestors. I didn't see that happening in other elections.
Even worse, the person who threw the shoe, or the pie, a the PM was immediately arrested, the person who threw rocks has not been. Why?! That's unacceptable.
